Jan Brubaker, a photographer working for Hodges Photography, suffered a broken femur Sunday at Fair Grounds when a horse struck her after breaking through the starting gate prior to the start of the fourth race. Brubaker underwent surgery at University Medical Center in New Orleans following the incident and is said to be recovering well.
