Julie Wolfe joined the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association in January as a marketing and research intern in the membership and events department. Wolfe will focus on bloodstock research, Thoroughbred sales, promotions and events, while learning aspects of the Florida Thoroughbred industry.

A native of Orlando, Wolfe moved to Ocala to earn a business and organizational management degree with a specialization in equine studies at the College of Central Florida. The degree prepares students for a career in the ever-developing equine industry. Coursework focuses on emerging industry trends and vital business skills for equine professionals.

Students enrolled in the program complete a business plan, a marketing portfolio and a study of equine form to function. Courses include business law, management and leadership, accounting principles, logistics for the horse industry, integrated horse management and equine learning theory.

Wolfe transferred from Valencia College with an Associate Arts degree. Her goal is to continue learning about the Florida Thoroughbred Industry.

“I further want to develop my skills and knowledge to become a bloodstock agent. I’ve had a passion for horses since I was a little girl. I want to deepen my understanding of the racing market and its trends,” Wolfe said.

“I am appreciative of shadowing sales professionals Beth Bayer, Colin Brennan, and Bobby Jones at the January Mixed Sale at Ocala Breeders’ Sales and I look forward to learning more from top professionals at the March and April sales,” she added.
