HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Heavy rain and a forecast for continued thunderstorms throughout the afternoon caused Gulfstream Park to cancel the balance of its nine-race program following Friday’s second race out of an abundance of caution for horses, horsemen and fans.

Overnight rain Thursday forced each of Friday’s three races scheduled for the turf to be moved to the all-weather course. Peacethrustrength won the opener, a $12,500 maiden claiming for 3-year-olds and older going a mile-and-70-yards on synthetic for Sunshine Meet leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

The Carlos David-trained Carentan took the second race, a $17,500 claiming for 3-year-olds and older going a mile-and-a-sixteenth on the synthetic.

Post time for the first of 11 races Saturday is 12:50 p.m.
