Three fillies and a colt will represent Florida Breeders in the prestigious Book 1 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale to be held Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 8-9. This year the Keeneland September Sale runs 12 sessions through Saturday, Sept. 20 with a dark day on Friday, Sept. 12. Book 1 features Hips 1 – 371.
Hip 4, Wild Ginger, is a Florida-bred filly by American Pharoah out of the winning Parading mare Kitzy’s Rocket, a full-sister to stakes-placed Drummer Boy and a half-sister to She’s Smoke, the dam of Grade 3-winner Haulin Ice. Consigned by Paramount Sales as agent, the chestnut filly is a half-sister to stakes-placed Alternate Rock and was bred in Florida by Nicsar Farms.
Hip 62, is a Florida-bred filly by Nyquist out of the stakes-placed mare Oola Gal, by Quality Road. Oola Gal is a half-sister to stakes-producer Lemon Gal and has one winner from one starter, Miss Ocala, by Hard Spun. The bay filly is consigned by Eaton Sales as agent and was bred in Florida by Peter Vegso’s Vegso Racing Stable.
Hip 64 is an FTBOA registered Florida-bred colt by first crop sire Life Is Good, winner of the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1), Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and Whitney (G1). The bay colt is out of the stakes-winning mare Osare, by Medaglia d’Oro, a half-sister to champion 3-year-old colt and multiple Grade 1-winner Arrogate and stakes-placed Diamond Ore. This is her fourth foal with one winner. Her unraced 2-year-old by Gun Runner, Gun Permit, brought $500,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Sale. The colt is consigned by Denali Stud as an agent for Bridlewood Farm, who bred the colt.
Eaton Sales as agent also consigns Hip 286, an FTBOA registered Florida-bred filly by first crop sire Flightline, the winner of the 2022 Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and the Horse of the Year that year. The filly is out of Come A Callin, by Dixie Union and is a half-sister to Florida-bred Caledonia Road, the Eclipse Award champion 2-year-old filly and winner of the 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1); multiple Grade 3-winning Florida-bred Officiating, stakes-winner One of A Kind and Lady Esme, dam of Grade 2-winner Lord Miles. The filly was bred in Florida by Vegso Racing Stable.
