COURTESY FHBPA (EDITED)
The Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association reminds membership the need for timeliness on renewing State Licensing. As with every year, June 30 will see many State Licenses expire. Please be prudent in checking with your owners and staff that they have renewed their license.
From reports of several members, there appears to be a significant delay in the renewal time frame. Failure to renew licenses in timely manner may result horses getting scratched.
In years prior, at times the State would issue a temporary license until everything was processed through Tallahassee. That may not be the same this year based on some initial reports. The FHBPA encourages everyone to get any renewal applications and materials in before your renewal date. If your materials are turned in before your renewal date but there is a delay in processing, you are much more likely to be able to get a temporary license during the processing period.
You may also want to confirm with the State Licensing Department what documentation is needed for new applications or renewals, as several members have reported a change in the requirements for identification.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the FHBPA office.
