Florida-bred speedsters Tape to Tape and Old Homestead lead a field of seven in Friday’s $75,000 Sam’s Town Stakes at Delta Downs going five furlongs.
Tape to Tape, a chestnut son of former Florida stallion Uncaptured bred by Honors Stable Corporation, enters as the 7-2 second choice for trainer Abel Ramirez-Rodriguez and owner End Zone Athletics. The seven-year-old gelding brings an impressive resume with over $447,000 in earnings from 11 wins in 36 starts. An $85,000 OBS March purchase from Ocala Stud, he enters off a dominant allowance victory at Delta Downs in October, covering five furlongs in :57.95. In 2024 he placed in both the Speightstown Sprint at Lone Star Park and last year’s edition of the Sam’s Town Stakes. Timothy Thornton retains the mount.
Fellow Florida-bred Old Homestead, listed at 9-2, makes his third consecutive start over the Delta strip for trainer Brett Brinkman. Bred and owned by Marablue Farm LLC and Pegasus Stud LLC, the six-year-old son of Overanalyze captured an allowance here on December 11, his first win since taking the July, 2022 Listed Concern Stakes at Laurel Park. The multiple stakes winner has banked $337,920 with five victories from 11 starts. Vicente Del-Cid gets the return call.
General Shipman leads the morning line at 9-5 for trainer Steve Asmussen following two wins and a third since August at Remington Park.
