A field of eight Florida-breds, 3-years-old and older, make up the $43,000 feature race at Gulfstream Park Thursday, a first level, $20,000 optional claiming set to go seven-and-a-half furlongs on the turf.

Reminder, 2-1 morning line favorite, looks for his first win since breaking his maiden on the all-weather course in September of last year.

Trained by Jose D’Angelo for Tami Bobo, Reminder has three starts this year with his best finish coming when second to Mister Abarrio in a first level, $20,000 optional claiming going a mile on the turf at Gulfstream on Aug. 4. In his last race on Oct. 27 he was fifth in a first condition, $20,000 optional claiming for state-breds going a mile-and-a-sixteenth on the turf.

Reminder is by Audible out of Mom’s Deputy and was bred in Florida by Courtney L. Meagher. He has one win, two seconds and three thirds in eight starts with earnings of $87,904.

Reminder is a two-time graduate of Ocala Breeders’ Sales, originally selling to First Finds for $100,000 at the 2022 OBS Winter Mixed Sale where he was consigned by Beth Bayer. He then sold for $200,000 to de Meric Sales at the 2022 Keeeneland September Yearling Sale before returning to Ocala where First Finds purchased him again, this time for $185,000 at the 2023 OBS Spring Sale.

Irad Ortiz Jr. has the call on Reminder from post seven.

Shadybrook Farm Inc. and Pam Klein’s Themanupfront is the second choice on the morning line at 5-2 after finishing third last time under similar conditions against open company going a mile on the turf at Gulfstream on Nov. 9. The 3-year-old colt led until deep stretch before grudgingly giving way to winning Florida-bred Anamnestic and losing by less than a length.

Themanupfront broke his maiden going seven-and-a-half furlongs on the turf in February then took off three months before coming back in May to win against first level, $75,000 optional claimers at the same distance. He is winless in five starts since with his best race a second in an upper level, $75,000 optional claiming going a mile-and-70-yards on the synthetic course in September.

Bred in Florida by Shadybrook Farm Inc., Themanupfront is by Coal Front out of Theladysaidno, by Concerto. He has two wins, two seconds and three thirds in 14 career starts with earnings of $149,855.
