Three Run Bolt and Bolt of Paradise are among the favorites for the seventh race at Tampa Bay Downs Sunday, a $20,500 event for fillies and mares which have never won two races and are running for a claiming price of $16,000. The one-mile turf contest has attracted a field of 10 plus two on the also-eligible list including five Florida-breds.
Three Run Bolt makes her second start of the year after a solid runner-up performance to Chilling Factor under the same conditions at Tampa Bay Downs on Jan. 12. The 4-year-old daughter of Bolt d’Oro will be looking for her first win since taking a $16,000 maiden claiming going a mile on the turf at Tampa Bay Downs in April of last year.
Three Run Bolt is trained by Gerald Bennett for Averill Racing LLC and Jayson R. Werth for whom she has earned $24,555 from one win in 13 starts with two seconds. She is out of Sidisinforthree, by Whywhywhy and was bred in Florida by Dr. Ross Russell.
Jose A. Batista will ride Three Run Bolt from post four and they are 3-1 on the morning line.
Florida-bred Bolt of Paradise is 7-2 in the program as the 5-year-old mare looks for her second career victory after winning a $10,000 maiden claiming going five furlongs on the turf at Meadowlands on Sept. 21. She finished third against non-winners of two, $7,500 claimers at Meadowlands on Oct. 12 before coming to Tampa Bay Downs.
Since arriving in Florida, she has finished fourth in two starts on Dec. 18 and Jan. 5, both under non-winners of two, $16,000 claiming conditions around two turns on the turf.
Bolt of Paradise is by Bolt d’Oro out of Paradise Alley, by Flower Alley and was bred in Florida by Bridlewood Farm. She has one win, three seconds and two thirds from 13 starts while banking $29,705 for owners Pewter Stable and Anthony Coppla.
Trainer Kathleen DeMasi has given the riding assignment on Bolt of Paradise to Pablo Morales and they will break from post five.
Other Florida-breds are Gulf Coast Girl, Real Mikey and Classy Lil Betty.
Gulf Coast Girl won her last start against $16,000 maiden claiming fillies and mares over nine furlongs on the Tampa Bay grass on Jan. 8 with Jesus Castanon aboard. A homebred for Ballybrit Stable LLC, Gulf Coast Girl is trained by Mike Dini and will be ridden again by Castanon from post one.
Real Mikey was third, just a neck shy of Three Run Bolt in the previously mentioned contest on Jan. 12 at a mile on the turf. She is trained by Brian Lusk for Ricardo De Anda and will be ridden from post three by Cipriano Gil. Real Mikey was bred by Stonehedge LLC.
Classy Lil Betty is trained and was bred by Cathy Rountree and tries for her second straight win after winning a $16,000 maiden claiming going five-and-a-half panels on the turf on Aug. 30.
Owned by Seven Gables, Classy Lil Betty will be ridden by Samy Camacho from post six.
