Patricia’s Hope LLC’s Uncashed lived up to his odds-on favoritism Thursday at Churchill Downs with winning for the second consecutive with a five-length victory in a $20,000 starter allowance with a purse of $76,000.
Facing five other 4-year-olds and older going six furlongs, Uncashed started evenly from the inside post as Stika broke fastest of all on the far outside. Jockey Walker Rodriguez had Uncashed taking over from the rail in quick order and was a length clear of Sitka in second through the first two furlongs in a rapid :21.03.
Sitka and Miacomet tried to confront Uncashed around the turn but were no match when the Florida-bred gelding found another gear with a quarter mile to the finish. Uncashed sprinted away in the stretch to win by five lengths in 1:08.09 on the fast track. Miacomet was second with Regal Rey another four-and-three-quarters lengths back in third. Sitka, Billy the Greek and Trust Daddy completed the order of finish. Chryso Alogo was scratched.
Uncashed paid $3.68 to win at 4-5 odds.
Uncashed has now won half of his eight starts this year including a second condition, an off-the-turf, $40,000 optional claiming at Hawthorne in his previous start on June 5. He started the year winning a $100,000 optional claiming at Tampa Bay Downs on Jan. 4 and also counts a four-and-a-quarter-length score in a $20,000 claiming race over a sloppy six furlongs at Keeneland on April 25.
Trained Larry Rivelli by Larry Rivelli, Uncashed has run at seven different tracks this year with a dozen different tracks on his career past performance charts. He has nine wins, including the Listed Quick Call presented by TRF at Saratoa in 2023, with three seconds in 16 lifetime efforts and earnings of $318,038.
He is by Uncaptured out of Charlie B., by War Chant and was bred in Florida by Nicksar Farms.
