Triskelion, the lone Florida-bred in Sunday’s $175,000 Pea Patch Stakes at Ellis Park, is the one bloodline break in a field otherwise stacked with Kentucky-breds. Eight sophomore fillies line up for five-and-one-half furlongs over the turf course.

Bred by Ashbrook Farm, Amy E. Dunne and Ciaran G. Dunne, and racing in the ownership of  Amy E. Dunne, Triskelion breaks from post eight under jockey Cristian Torres for trainer G.R. Arnold at 5-1, the third choice on the morning line. She’s by Leinster out of the Australia (GB) mare Victorian Gold (Ire).

A victory in the Pea Patch by Triskelion would generate a $4,000 Export Incentive for her breeders paid by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

Her form line reads like a tour of the region: a third-place debut at Ellis Park last July, a runner-up finish at Kentucky Downs in September and another third at Keeneland in October, before she broke her maiden at Gulfstream Park on November 9. Stepped up to open company, she finished second in a Churchill Downs allowance on June 12. She has a win, two seconds and two thirds from five career starts for $98,838 in earnings.

Her chief threat is morning-line favorite Beach Heist, trained by Will Walden. Beach Heist already carries black type, having broken her maiden at Keeneland last October then finished third in the $150,000 Stewart Manor Stakes at Aqueduct that November. Last out on May 31, she ran second in a Churchill Downs allowance. She has a win with a second and third from three career starts for $110,138 in earnings.

Beach Heist will be ridden by Alex Concepcion from post one.

Also set for the Pea Patch are Sutura and jockey Martin Garcia, Gigabit with Marcelino Pedoroz Jr. in the irons, Alex Beschizza rides Sweet Sissone, Victory Music will have Umberto Rispoli up, Gabriel Saez rides Woodstock and Mario Gutierrez takes the reins on Just a Minute.
