Last year trainer Herman Wilensky won the E. L. Gaylord at Remington Park with Chi Chi after starting the Florida-bred filly at Del Mar. Sunday, his son Sam Wilensky tries the same formula with his Florida-bred Sophistry in Sunday’s edition of the $50,000 E. L. Gaylord, a six-and-a-half-furlong main track event for 2-year-old fillies.

Sophistry has shipped to Remington Park from Del Mar where she won a maiden special weight for fillies sprinting five furlongs on the turf in her last race on Aug. 22. It was her third career start after debuting with a second to Airdrie Hill in a five-furlong maiden special weight for Florida-bred fillies at Gulfstream Park on June 23. Wilensky then sent her to Del Mar where she again finished second to Supa Speed in a five-furlong maiden special weight for fillies on the turf on Aug. 1.

Sophistry is the 3-1 morning line third choice in the Gaylord and will break from post four with Ramon Vazquez aboard.

By Mitole out of the Bayern mare Naansense, Sophistry was bred in Florida by Michael Ian Yovankin, Herman Wilensky and Sam Wilensky. She has earned $68,400 in her three races, second in the Gaylord field to the Steve Asmussen-trained Tapitures Actor with $75,278.

Tapitures Actor exits an eight-and-a-half-length trouncing of allowance fillies at Remington Park going five-and-a-half furlongs on Sept. 5. She broke her maiden in her first try at Lone Star Park in May then finished second to Secret Faith in the $150,000 Texas Thoroughbred Futurity for state-breds at Lone Star Park on July 13. In one other start, the daughter of Tapiture was seventh in the $74,000 Iowa Stallion Futurity won by Just Call Me Lucky at Prairie Meadows on July 27.

Floyd Wethey Jr. will ride Tapitures Actor from post three and they are 5-2 on the morning line.

The 2-1 program favorite is Glee, also from the Asmussen barn.

Glee won a maiden special weight over a sloppy track at Lone Star in her debut on May 12 then finished fourth after a slow start over a muddy six furlongs in the $218,000 Debutante won by Vodka With A Twist at Churchill Downs on June 30. She enters the Gaylord off a second-place finish to Long Neck Paula in the $101,000 Prairie Meadows Debutante going six furlongs on Aug. 23.

Glee has earned $49,440 in her three races and Stewart Elliott will ride from post one.

Rounding out the field are Café Au Lait and jockey David Cabrera, Arsonist will be ridden by Isaac Castillo and Iram Vargas Diego rides Ritzy Mischief.
