Arindel homebred Mythical has been installed as the 8-5 morning line favorite for Thursday’s $150,000 Tremont at Saratoga Race Course, a five-and-a-half-furlong contest that has attracted five 2-year-olds.

The Florida-bred daughter of St Patrick’s Day will face males for the first time in her second career start after an impressive debut against maiden special weight fillies at Gulfstream Park on April 17 for trainer Jorge Delgado. Ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, Mythical popped out of the starting gate and was immediately clear of her nine rivals before winning by eighth-and-a-half lengths while covering four-and-a-half furlongs in :51.37.

Jaramillo travels north to Saratoga for the return mount and Mythical has drawn post three.

An earner of $50,000 in her lone start, Mythical is out of Lailoni, and daughter of Arindel’s Florida-based stallion Brethren

Mythical tries to become the first Florida-bred winner of the Tremont since He Hate Me in 2017. Seven other Florida-breds have won the Tremont going back to Very High in 1969, Tamtent (1970), Linda’s Chief (1972), Foolish Pleasure (1984), Sovereign Don (1985), Mr. Sea Sanders (1988) and Rosie O’Greta in 1995.

Also expected to garner plenty of support through the mutuel windows is Romeo, who is 9-5 on the morning line.

Trained by John J. Robb for Joseph Lloyd, Romeo was a 10 ¼-length winner of a four-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight at Laurel Park on May 3 with jockey Xavier Perez up.

Romeo is by Honor A.P. out of Fancy Love, by Not For Love and will break from post five. Perez will again be aboard.

Other juveniles entered are Baytown Dreamer with jockey Joseph Bealmear, Blinging It Back with Jose Ortiz in the saddle and Jareth Loveberry will ride Mercilesanihilator.
