A Florida-bred filly by Malibu Moon sold for $485,000 to Shawn Dugan as agent on Sunday during Session 6 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the second day of Book 3. The September Sale runs daily through Saturday, Sept. 23 for a total of 12 sessions.

Selling as Hip 1778 from the Paramount Sales as agent consignment, the bay filly is out of the stakes-placed mare Madam Aamoura, by Zensational. Bred by Elizabeth LaPierre, Jennifer Given and Spendthrift Stallions LLC, the filly is from the family of multiple graded stakes-winner Anguilla.

Keeneland sold 277 yearlings Sunday for $38,868,000, down slightly from last year’s total of $40,172,000 from the sixth session when 286 horses sold. The average of $140,318 is nearly even with $140,462 in 2022, while the median of $100,000 is 9.09% lower than last year’s $110,000.

T.C. LLC put in a final bid of $260,000 to purchase Hip 1812, a Florida-bred filly by Girvin out of My Indian, by Indian Charlie. The bay filly is a half-sister to stakes-winner Chief Istan and stakes-placed Hay Field and was consigned by Airdrie Stud Raised and Offered and is eligible for the rich Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association Florida Sire Stakes.

Brereton C. Jones bred the Girvin filly as well as two other Florida-bred colts who each sold for $250,000 in Hips 1636 and 1752.

Hip 1752, by Ocala Stud stallion Win Win Win, went to Jebel Ali Stable and Michael Costa. Consigned by Airdrie Stud, the colt is out of the Majesticperfection mare Just Like Lucy, a full sister to multiple stakes-winner Pretty Perfection. The bay colt is also eligible for the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes.

Hip 1636 is by Girvin and sold to Mike Ryan as agent from the consignment of Knockgriffin Farm as agent. The colt is out of Cara Sorella, by Brother Derek, a half-sister to multiple graded stakes-winner Siphon City, graded stakes-placed Bronx City Girl and stakes-producers That’s a Trick and My Indian.

Xtreme Stable LLC went to $95,000 to acquire Hip 1792, a Florida-bred colt from the first crop by Grade 1 Runhappy Metropolitan Handicap and Grade 1 Carter Handicap-winner Vekoma. Consigned by Four Star Sales as agent for breeder Westbury Stables, the gray or roan colt is out of Melody Girl, by Unbridled’s Song, a half-sister to stakes-placed The Bear Vow and stakes-producer Form Fitting.
