Mike Repole’s Repole Stable purchased a Florida-bred colt by Maclean’s Music for $425,000 during a record Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-year-olds in training Tuesday. Consigned by Hoppell LLC as agent, Hip 560 is out of Embur’s Zip, by City Zip and is from the family of multiple Grade 1 Preakness-winner Exaggerator. Bred in Florida by Bridlewood Farm, the colt was one of several of juveniles that sold Tuesday after galloping during the later stages of under tack session.

Embur’s Zip has two winners from two starters including a colt by Not This Time that brought $300,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Summer Yearling Sale. Embur’s Zip has an unnamed Florida-bred yearling filly by Girvin and was bred to Practical Joke in 2024.

The Maclean’s Music colt was one of 11 Florida-breds that sold for an average of $133,636 and a median of $85,000 during the one-day auction. The average was just shy of the record average of $135,560 for all 326 juveniles sold and the median for Florida-breds was 25% more than the sale median of $60,000. The average for all 2-year-olds sold Tuesday was an 42.1% increase over the previous record of $95,425 established last year over two days of selling.

Another Florida-bred that sold well was Hip 523 from the Crane Thoroughbred Services consignment. Purchased by Greg Compton as an agent for Danny W. Brown for $140,000, the bay filly is by Union Rags out of the stakes-placed Graydar mare Aggregator. Aggregator is a half-sister to stakes-placed Hot Middles, who is undefeated in two allowance races in two starts this year at Horseshoe Indianapolis in April in May.

The filly, purchased by 4 Little Monkeys for $23,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale, was bred in Florida by Elizabeth LaPierre, Jennifer Given and W.S. Farish. Le Pieret Givens purchased Aggregator for $20,000 at the 2021 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
