A Florida-bred filly from the first crop by Pleasant Acres Stallions’ Leinster was one of three juveniles to fire a :20.40 quarter-mile work Friday during the second day of under tack programs previewing the Ocala Breeders’ Sales March Sale. Also on Friday, a filly by Caracaro was the lone 2-year-old to breeze a bullet :9.60 eighth mile.

The Florida-bred Leinster filly, cataloged as Hip 505, is out of Tribal Rule mare Sea Smoke, a full sister to Grade 2-winner Marckie’s Water. The chestnut filly was bred in Florida by Tom McCrocklin and Frank Mermenstein and is consigned by McCrocklin as agent.

The Caracaro filly is cataloged as Hip 446 and is from the consignment of Moses Longoria’s On The Run Sales as agent. She is out of Port Marazion, by Point of Entry and is from the family of multiple Grade 2-winning Florida-bred Pomeroys Pistol and Grade 3-winner Toowindytohaulrox.

“I didn’t know she would go that nine and three [fifths second]. I thought maybe she would go in 10 flat or nine and four [fifths seconds], so I was happy with that,” Longoria said. “She’s a nice horse. She’s real athletic and I always felt like she was going to be fast. I’ve just been babying her the whole time trying to save it until we got here. I’ve always liked her; she’s always been a nice filly. I’ve just kept my fingers crossed.”

Also working two furlongs in :20.40 were Hips 325 and 364.

Hip 325 is by Midshipman out of the Lines of David mare Meetmeonline, a half-sister to Grade 2-winner Bucchero, stakes-placed Meetmeinkingston and Florida-bred Meets Expectations, the dam of multiple Grade 1-winning Florida-bred World of Trouble, stakes-winning Florida-bred Money Or Love and stakes-placed Florida-bred Alfie Solomons.
