A Florida-bred filly by Pleasant Acres Stallions’ Leinster, currently the nation’s top first crop sire, was among three juveniles to clock eighth mile works in :9.80 Tuesday at Ocala Training Center.

It was the first of five days of under tack shows previewing next week’s Ocala Breeder’s Sales Company’s June Sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age. The June Sale will run Tuesday and Wednesday next week with each session beginning at 10 a.m. EST.

Hips 1 – 172 worked Tuesday with Hips 173-343 scheduled to work Wednesday. Hips 344-386 go Thursday, Hips 535 – 705 breeze Friday and Saturday’s under tack works will feature Hips 706 – 833. Each day of under tack works are set to begin at 7:30 a.m.

The Leinster filly is cataloged as Hip 81 from the consignment of Octavio Mejia as agent. The bay filly is out of the winning Wildcat Heir mare Wildcat Gaze, a half-sister to stakes-winner Saratoga Treasure, Florida-bred stakes-winner April Gaze and stakes-placed Veterans Beach and Disco Star. She was bred in Florida by Helen and Joseph Barbazon.

 

Hip 104, a colt from the first crop by Grade 1-winner Yaupon worked an eighth mile in :9.80 from the consignment of Julie Davies as agent. He is out of the winning Into Mischief mare After The Party, a half-sister to stakes-winner Green Destiny and stakes-placed Ownen’s Leap. The colt is also from the family of Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands (G1)-winner Super Saver.

 

Also working an eighth mile in :9.80 was Hip 152, a bay colt by first crop sire and multiple graded stakes-winner Engage. The colt is out of the stakes-placed Lion Hearted mare Bazinga B and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Bazinga C.

 

There were 14 2-year-olds that worked a furlong in :10 flat.

Hip 45, I’m Here for Grace, a bay filly by first crop sire Combatant, winner of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, was the lone juvenile to work a quarter mile in :20.80. Consigned by Blue Sapphire Stables as agent, she is out of True Religion, by Yes It’s True and is a half-sister of stakes-place Monster Man.
