Jasper Robusto, a 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Journeyman Stud’s leading Florida sire Khozan, won a $121,757 maiden race at Hanshin Racecourse in Komanocho, Takarazuka, Hyogo, Japan Saturday with jockey Fuma Matsuwak aboard. Trained by Hideyuki Mori, Jasper Robusto won the 1,800-meter maiden in his second start after finishing second in his debut. He defeated Armolcolite in second with Not Enough third.
Jasper Robusto is out of the stakes-winning Marciano mare Prize Informant and was bred by Rivermont Farm. The gray or roan colt is a two-time graduate of Ocala Breeder’ Sales having first passed through the ring during the October Yearling Sale last year when he sold to Blas Perez Stables for $27,000 out of Richard Kent’s Kaizen Sales consignment.
Blas Perez Stables then consigned him to the OBS March Sale earlier this year where Hideyuki Mori purchased him for $265,000.
