A Florida-bred filly by Girvin garnered a final bid of $300,000 while a Florida-bred filly by Justify sold for $180,000 in later action during Thursday’s fourth session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Trainer Cherie DeVaux as an agent for Belladonna Racing signed the ticket on the Girvin filly who sold as Hip 1116 from the Airdrie Stud Raised and Offered consignment. She is out of the unraced Brother Derek mare Cara Sorella, making her a full-sister to stakes-winner Swirvin.
Cara Sorella is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes-winner Siphon City, graded stakes-placed Bronx City Girl and stakes-producers That’s a Trick and My Indian. Both Cara Sorella and the Girvin filly were bred by the late Brereton C. Jones.
Preferred Equine as agent and Lindy Farms purchased the Justify filly, who went through the ring as Hip 1078. The filly is out of Ashlee’s Lady, by Florida-bred Gilded Time and was bred in Florida by Jean E. White and Justify Syndicate. Ashlee’s Lady is a full-sister to stakes-placed Langoureuse and a half-sister to Grade 2-winner Yara, stakes-placed Gotta Get Paid and graded stakes-producer Petunia Face.
The Keeneland September Yearling Sale features 12 sessions that run through Sept. 21. All sessions begin at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
