Girvin Colt Brings $120,000

BY BROCK SHERIDAN

Florida-breds continued to attract attention Tuesday during the second day of the two-day Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Old in Training Sale with a filly by Girvin selling for $210,000 and a colt, also by Girvin, bringing $125,000.

Consigned by Bobby Dodd as agent, the Girvin filly sold as Hip 350 and is out of Our Rockin Ruby, by Rock Hard Ten, a half-sister to multiple graded-stakes-winner Fantastic Style and stakes-producer Ad Litem. Woodrow Call signed the ticket on the filly, who worked an eighth-mile in :10.20 at the under tack session last week.

Bred in Florida by Brad Grady, the filly is eligible for the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series to be run at Gulfstream Park later this year.

Another Florida-bred by Girvin generated a six-figure final bid in Hip 276, a bay colt that went to Madaket Stables LLC for $125,000. Consigned by de Meric Sales as agent, the bay colt is out of the Forestry mare Italian Rose, a half-sister to stakes-placed Perfect Gent. The colt worked a furlong in :10.60 at the breeze show and was bred in the Sunshine State by Pedro Gonzalez. He is also eligible for the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes.

A complete update on all Florida-breds selling at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds will appear in tomorrow’s issue of Wire to Wire.
