Fresh off a nearly three-length score against special weight maidens in his only race, Florida-bred Ghostly Rose has been installed as the 9-2 choice in the $100,000 Tyro at Monmouth Park Saturday. The gray or roan son of Battalion Runner is one of seven 2-year-olds who will go five furlongs on the turf in the Tyro.

Ghostly Rose came from mid-pack to draw off in the lane and win his first out going five furlongs on the Gulfstream Park synthetic on June 21. He is trained by Javier Gonzalez for 47 Roses LLC and earned $43,000 for the victory.

Ghostly Rose is a graduate of the 2023 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Winter Mixed Sale where Yarelli Murillo selected him out of the Abbie Road Farm consignment for $3,500.

Jomar Torres picks up the mount on Ghostly Rose and they have post one.

Trainer George Weaver, who is closing in on 1,000 career wins, enters Governor Sam for owners Bregman Family Racing LLC and Swinbank Stables LLC.

Tabbed as the 9-5 morning line favorite, Governor Sam broke his maiden in his second lifetime start last out. The bay son of Improbable won a maiden special weight by two-and-a-quarter lengths going five-and-a-half furlongs on the Saratoga turf on July 19 after finishing sixth in the $110,000 Royal Palm Juvenile won by Florida-bred Gabaldon at Gulfstream on May 11.

Another OBS graduate where he was consigned by Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables, Governor Sam was purchased by Bregman Family Racing and Ivan Cabrera for $275,000 at this year’s OBS Spring Sale.

Governor Sam has post six and jockey Paco Lopez.

Rounding out the field are Kirin with Samuel Marin taking the call, no rider has yet been named for Noble Force, Crazy Frazy and jockey Jairo Rendon, Johnny Come Lately will be ridden by Joe Bravo and Joseph Bealmear has the mount on Jet Sweep Joe.
