This Florida-bred colt by Waiting is out of the multiple stakes-winning Brethren mare Lynx and was bred by Ashley Godwin’s Rivermont Farm. Foaled May 13, the colt was born with a severe hernia and spent his first week at Peterson Smith Equine Hospital and Complete Care under the care of Dr. Faith Hughes. The colt is in full recovery and returned to Rivermont on May 20.
According to Godwin, the colt was not the only casualty at Rivermont on May 13 as her husband, Vince Mirarchi, tore his bicep while caring for the colt that night and required surgery. Godwin reports that Mirarchi is also on the mend.
Rivermont Farm purchased Lynx in foal to Waiting for $15,000 at the 2026 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Winter Mixed Sale out of the Arindel consignment.
Lynx, the 2022 Florida-bred Champion 2-Year-Old Filly and winner of that year’s Desert Vixen Stakes and Susan’s Girl Stakes, also has an unnamed Florida-bred yearling colt by Ocala Stud’s Roadster. Lynx is a half-sister to stakes-winning Florida-bred African Rose and multiple Grade 3-placed Florida-bred Mewannarose. She is a full sister to stakes-placed Florida-bred Weisser.
