Arindel homebred Evolution graduates into stakes company for her third start Friday when the Florida-bred filly goes in the $150,000 Schuylerville at Saratoga Race Course. Trained by Carlos David, Evolution will face five other 2-year-old fillies in the six-furlong contest.
Evolution made her first start against maiden special weight fillies going four-and-a-half furlongs at Keeneland on April 16, finishing second to the Wesley Ward-trained Satisfied Mind. Trainer Carlos David then returned her to South Florida where she rebounded strong to win a maiden special weight for fillies going five furlongs at Gulfstream Park on May 15, winning by nearly three lengths while leading at every point of call.
An earner of $61,457 in her two races, Evolution is by Arindel’s stallion Brethren out of stakes-placed Sweet Khaleesi, by Maimonides. Sweet Khaleesi has four winners from four starters, all by Brethren, including stakes-placed Mist, who was second to Welcome Back in the $100,000 FTBOA Desert Vixen in 2023.
Evolution will be ridden for the first time by Luis Saez and will break from post one.
She will try to join eight other Florida-bred winners of the Schuylerville including Catherinethegreat in 2018, Jardin (2008), How About Now (1996), Turnback the Alarm (1991), Meadow Star (1990), Our Dancing Girl (1974), Laughing Bridge (1974) and Idealistic (1967).
Evolution is one of two winners entered along with the Mark Casse-trained My Sweetheart, a homebred daughter of Flameaway for Debbie M. Oxley.
My Sweetheart switches to the main track after winning her debut against maiden special weight fillies going five furlongs on the turf at Churchill Downs on May 22. Like Evolution, My Sweetheart won while leading from the start so the two fillies are likely to vie for the early lead Friday.
The chestnut filly comes into the Schuylerville off a bullet work on the main track at Saratoga on June 29, clocking three furlongs in :36.60, the fastest of 12 that morning.
My Sweetheart is out of My Darlin, by Curlin and earned $69,000 for her victory.
She will be ridden by Frankie Dettori from post four.
Other fillies entered include Kingsolver with Flavien Prat named to ride, Junior Alvarado will be aboard Bay Yaupon, Miss Magical and jockey Dylan Davis and Simone with Manny Franco aboard.
