Third in her last three starts, all in graded stakes on the turf, Florida-bred Dancing N Dixie will try to snap that streak with a victory Saturday in the $250,000 Tepin at Churchill Downs. The Tepin has attracted a field of 11 3-year-old fillies who will go one mile on the turf.

Labeled at 9-2 on the morning line, Dancing N Dixie started her span of third-place finishes at Tampa Bay Downs on March 9 in the Grade 3 Florida Oaks won by Waskesiu going a mile-and-a-sixteenth.

Trainer Mark Casse then shipped the gray or roan daughter of Pleasant Acres Stallion’s Neolithic to Keeneland where she finished behind winner Buchu and second-place finisher Mo Fox Givin in the Grade 2 Appalachian going a mile.

Most recently, Dancing N Dixie was third in the Grade 2 Edgewood won by Dynamic Pricing at a mile-and-a-sixteenth at Churchill Downs on May 3.

Dancing N Dixie is owned by Gary Barber, Rocky Top Stable and Chris Moore’s LEMB Stables and has earned $185,235 from two wins in nine starts with three thirds. She is out of Foolhearted Woman, by Uncaptured and was bred in Florida by the late Freddie Hyatt.

She was sold to White Type Stables for $35,000 at the 2023 Ocala Breeders’ Sales June Sale out of the Blue River Bloodstock consignment.

Trainer Mark Casse will give the leg up on Dancing N Dixie to Jose Ortiz and they have post nine.

Dancing N Dixie will again face Mo Fox Givin, who was fifth in the Edgewood after finishing second in the Appalachian.

Trained by Ronald Moquette for Woo Pig Stables LLC, Mo Fox Givin’s last win came against first level, $100,000 optional claiming fillies going a mile on the turf at Santa Anita on Jan. 20.

Mo Fox Givin is by Uncle Mo out of Givine (Fr), by Blackburn (Fr) and has won two of nine career starts with two seconds and two thirds.

An earner of $228,200, Mo Fox Givin will be ridden by Joel Rosario from post two and they are 10-1 in the program.

Trainer William Walden will saddle Pipsy (Ire), the 7-2 morning line favorite, for Woodford Thoroughbreds LLC.

In one start in the United States since arriving from Europe, Pipsy won the Grade 3 Soaring Softly going six furlongs on the grass during the Belmont at Big A meet on May 12.
