Three Florida-breds changed hands Tuesday during Session 8 of the 12-session Keeneland September Sale. Of the 10 Florida-bred cataloged, four others were outs with three RNAs. The Keeneland September Yearling Sale will continue each day this week before concluding Saturday.
On Tuesday, Keeneland sold 301 yearlings through the ring for $21,476,500, for an average of $71,350 and a median of $50,000. The gross is 1.39% higher than the eighth session in 2022, when 295 horses sold for $21,182,500. The average is nearly even with $71,805 in 2022, and the median is 9.09% below last year’s $55,000.
The top selling Florida-bred on the day was Hip 2587, a bay colt by first crop sire Instilled Regard, winner of the Grade 1 Manhattan who dropped the gavel at $130,000 on a final bid from Keep the Ball Rollin. Consigned by Warrendale Sales as agent and bred by Beth Bayer, the colt is out of the stakes-placed mare Know it All Anna, by Midnight Lute. Know it All Anna has also produced stakes-placed Know It All Audrey.
Hip 2484 sold for $60,000 to Pro Racing Stable out of the Four Star Sales consignment, agent for breeder Westbury Stables. The Florida-bred filly is by City of Light out of Darlin’issues, by Sky Mesa, a half-sister to multiple Grade 1-winner Accelerate; graded stakes-placed, stakes-winners Daddy DT and Amarish; and stakes-producer New Issue.
Hip 2425, a Florida-bred colt from the first crop by Tiz the Law, winner of several Grade 1 races including the Belmont, Travers and Curlin Florida Derby, went to Ballinahulla Stables for $9,000. Consigned by Four Star Sales as agent for Westbury Stables, the colt is out of the stakes-winning mare Believe in Charlie, by Indian Charlie. Westbury also bred the colt.
