All That Magic will make her first start of the year Friday at Pimlico when the Florida-bred mare sprints from the gate in the $100,000 The Very One. Trained by Kathleen DeMasi for Pewter Stable and Spedale Family Racing LLC, All That Magic is one of 13 fillies and mares plus an also eligible entered in the five furlong contest on the grass.

All That Magic won the $104,000 Incredible Revenge at five-and-a-half furlongs on the Monmouth Park lawn in August to finish a four-race winning streak. Her first score in that span was a three-quarter-length victory against $40,000 claiming fillies at Monmouth on June 9. She followed-up with allowance victories at the same distance and surface at Penn National and Monmouth on June 28 and July 28.

All That Magic finished her 2023 campaign with a third-place finish behind Lady Milagro in the $150,000 Autumn Days going six furlongs on the Aqueduct turf on Nov. 17.

All That Magic is by Fast Anna out of Hermione’s Magic, by Forest Wildcat and was bred in Florida by English Range Farm. Her current owners went to $40,000 to buy her out of the Envsion Equine consignment at the 2021 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale. She also passed through the OBS auction ring the previous year at the October Sale but did not meet her reserve when consigned by Summerfield.

All That Magic is 5-1 on the morning line for The Very One and will have Luis Saez aboard when she breaks from post eight.

Also set to make her first start of the year is Kaufymaker for trainer Wesley Ward.

The Gregory Kaufman homebred mare won two of four starts last year including an upper level, $80,000 optional claiming going five-and-a-half furlongs on the grass at Saratoga on Aug. 2. She finished out of contention in the Grade 2 Woodford won by Arzak at Keeneland on Oct. 7 in her most recent race.

An earner of $433,330, Kaufymaker is by Jimmy Creed, out of the Florida-bred mare Heaven’s Touch by Montbrook and has won four of 10 career starts with a second and two thirds.
