EDITED PLEASANT ACRES STALLIONS PRESS RELEASE

MORRISTON, FL—Pleasant Acres Stallions announced Thursday the arrival of Doppelganger, a son of Into Mischief out of Twice the Lady, by Quiet American, who will stand for $10,000 for the 2024 breeding season.

“A TDN Rising Star by Into Mischief has arrived in Florida for our breeders,” Pleasant Acres Stallions owner Joe Barbazon said. “Bred on the same crossover Fappiano-line mares as champion and multiple Grade 1 stakes-winner Covfefe and graded stakes-winner Maximus Mischief, we are confident he will make an impressive impact on future Florida crops.”

Doppelganger, a $570,000 Fasig-Tipton Selected Showcase yearling, broke his maiden in his debut as a 2-year-old by three-and-a-half-lengths at Los Alamitos.

“When we saw him at the sale, the whole team, Bob, Tom and myself, agreed he was an absolute must have,” Donato Lanni said. “I am looking forward to seeing his babies hit the sales in a couple of years.”

As a 3-year-old, he ran at Santa Anita and placed in the Grade 2 San Felipe and Grade 3 Affirmed. With four wins as a 4-year-old, Doppelganger captured the Grade 1 Carter Handicap presented by NYRA Bets at Aqueduct as well as the Battery Park at Delaware Park.

“Doppelganger exudes class in every sense. He’s an eye-catching individual with more natural power and strength than his namesake Authentic. Commercially, he gives breeders an excellent chance to get a proper ROI, especially with the precocious nature of the broodmare base in Florida,” Tom Ryan of SF Bloodstock said.

Twice the Lady, a stakes winner and multiple stakes-placed performer, was nearly 70% in-the-money during her racing career.

Doppelganger’s second dam, Catherine’s Crown, by Chief’s Crown, is the dam of Michelle’s Crown, the producer of Louisiana Champions Day Turf and Louisiana Showcase Turf-winner Snakebite Kit. Catherine’s Crown is the granddam of black-type winner and multiple stakes-placed Florida-bred Savingtime. Doppelganger’s third dam, Catherine’s Bet, was a Grade 2 winner and the dam of champion 3-year-old filly Blushing Katy and Midnight Bet, a multiple stakes-winner of nearly $3 million in Japan.

Doppelganger joins stallions Amira’s Prince (Ire), Bodexpress, Chess Chief, Curlin’s Honor, Gone Astray, Gunnevera, Leinster, Magic on Tap, Neolithic, No Never No More and Sweetontheladies at Pleasant Acres Stallions, located just northwest of Ocala.
