Trainer Patrick Biancone will try to earn a ticket to the Breeders’ Cup for a second Florida-bred 2-year-old in his stable when he saddles Diciassette for the $650,000 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland Saturday. Owned by Green With MV Stable, Diciassette is among seven juveniles entered for the mile-and-a-sixteenth test that is part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series offering the winner a Win and You’re In free spot in the $2 million FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (Grade 1) to be run Oct. 31 at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
Biancone also trains Florida-bred Lennilu, a multiple stakes winner of the $75,000 Leinster Hollywood Beach at Gulfstream Park on Sept. 27 who is being pointed to the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar on Oct. 31.
Diciassette is undefeated in his first two career starts after winning the $75,000 Proud Man on a sloppy track at Gulfstream Park on Aug. 9. The bay son of Mitole won the six-furlong Proud Man after jockey Jonathan Ocasio had him placed in a tracking spot down the backstretch then sent him past Florida-bred Wine Candy in the final sixteenth to win by a length. He was made the 6-5 favorite in the Proud Man having won a five-furlong maiden special weight for Florida-breds by half-length at Gulfstream on July 20.
An earner of $69,450 in his two starts, Diciassette is out of Im a Dixie Diva, by Henny Hughes and was bred in Florida by Dominique Damico. Biancone bought the colt for $100,000 out of Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables consignment at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-year-olds in May. He is also a graduate of the 2024 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Yearling Sale where Superfine got him for $34,000 out of Lisa McGreevy’s Abbie Road consignment. He was initially sold at public auction as a yearling in the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky February Mixed Sale where James Layden as agent took him for $75,000 out of the Baldwin Bloodstock consignment. He also went through the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Select Yearling Sale in July of 2024 but did not meet his reserve.
Ocasio will travel to Keeneland to keep the mount on Diciassette, who is 20-1 on the morning line and has post three.
Ted Noffey, an eight-and-a-half-length winner of the Spendthrift Farm Hopeful (G1) at Saratoga Race Course on Sept. 1, is the morning line favorite at 4-5.
Trained by Todd Pletcher for Spendthrift Farm LLC, Ted Noffey is also undefeated in his two career starts. By Into Mischief out of Streak of Luck, by Old Fashioned, Ted Noffey won asix-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight by a length-and-a-half at Saratoga on Aug. 2.
John Velazquez will ride Ted Noffey from post six.
Rounding out the field are Blackout Time with jockey Cristian Torres, Irad Ortiz Jr. has the mount on Big Dom, Spice Runner will have Tyler Gaffalione up, Litmus Test will carry Flavien Prat and Jose Ortiz takes the call on Ewing.
