According to the Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC) and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture, a new case of Contagious Equine Metritis were confirmed in Orange County, Fla., as of Jan. 30. An official quarantine has been issued.

Only the animals under quarantine have additional travel restrictions. The horse under quarantine is not allowed to leave the premises.

As of Jan. 30 there are 51 confirmed cases and 136 horses have been exposed in Orange County. Those number represent one additional case from the 50 confirmed cases and 86 horses exposed in an alert published by the EDCC on Dec. 16.
