Florida-bred Chi Town Prince, an impressive maiden special weight winner in his first race, is set to make his second start Saturday night in the $100,000 Prairie Meadows Freshman at Prairie Meadows. Eight 2-year-olds are scheduled for the six-furlong contest with Chi Town Prince receiving morning line odds of 5-1.

Although Chi Town Prince faced only two others, both Florida-breds, in his debut at Hawthorne on July 20, one was his favored stablemate Chief Morter. Chi Town Prince was a bit slow to get underway but got up to challenge Chief Morter coming out the turn. They went head and head in the lane until Chi Town Prince pulled way at the sixteenth pole to win by three-and-a-quarter lengths ahead of Bridge Classic in second, finishing four-and-a-half furlongs in :52.03 on the fast track. He earned $17,400 for owners Wayne Scherr, Spencer Kucera and Dundalk 5 LLC.

Chi Town Prince is by American Freedom out of the winning Florida-bred mare Princess Ulele, by Uncaptured and was bred in Florida by Bulldog Racing

Princess Ulele has four foals and one other starter, Good to Be Prince, a winning full brother to Chi Town Prince. She has an unnamed yearling colt by Known Agenda and a weanling colt by Doppelganger, who stands in Florida at Pleasant Acres Stallions.

Chi Town Prince will be ridden by Jareth Loveberry from post seven.

Smarty Hardy, a 10-length winner of the restricted Iowa Stallion Futurity in his last race on July 26, is undefeated in two starts for trainer Todd Jordan and owner Donald C. Hansen.

The gelded son of Stroll launched his career in a four-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight at Prairie Meadows on July 13, winning by four-and-a-half lengths.

An earner of $61,920 in his two starts, Smarty Hardy has post eight and rider Kylee Jordan.

It’s All Right is the other stakes winner in the field with his three-and-a-quarter-length score in the $150,000 Texas Thoroughbred Futurity, run over a muddy and sealed five-and-a-half furlongs at Lone Star Park on July 5.

Trained by Ray Ashford, It’s All Right broke his maiden by two lengths against state-bred special weight company going five furlongs at Lone Star on June 15. A gelded son of Cairo Prince, It’s All Right has earned $116,880 for owner Ron A. Stolich.

Iram Vargas Diego has the mount on It’s All Right, who is 7-2 on the morning line and has drawn post five.
