Thoroughbred bloodstock agent and equine sports performance expert, Andrew Vanlangendonck is offering, ‘Breaking Into the thoroughbred Industry: Proven Strategies for Breeding, Development and Maximizing Value’, on August 19 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Circle Square Cultural Center in Ocala, Florida.

Offered as part of the Master the Possibilities program series highlighting the Horse Capital of the World®, the session is designed for those curious about how the thoroughbred industry works. The session breaks down the strategic process behind breeding, developing and selling a thoroughbred from stallion selection and foaling evaluation to sale placement and the final bid.

Vanlangendonck explores how professionals analyze pedigrees, assess conformation and development, determine purchasing seasons, optimize breeder award eligibility and appraise value at every stage of growth.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of how decisions are made regarding weanling, mixed, yearling, 2-year-old in training, digital and horses of racing age markets and what timelines must be initiated once a sale target is selected.

The class is recommended for those simply interested in the industry, considering ownership, or exploring how to become involved professionally. The class is an organized roadmap to understanding how breeding strategy, development planning, and market timing work together to drive value in the thoroughbred marketplace.

Vanlangendonck’s family consignment, Summerfield Sales, is recognized as one of the leading consignments in the United States. The consignment has sold a Kentucky Derby winner, a Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, four Eclipse Award champions and dozens of additional Grade 1 winners and track record setters. He has assisted at the Kentucky Derby, the Breeders’ Cup and numerous Grade 1 races.

His experience spans the full lifecycle of the equine athlete, including equine management, operational streamlining and efficiency, farm management, equine husbandry, horsemanship, breeding strategy, foaling evaluation, rearing and development, sales preparation and placement, conditioning, buying and selling, training and rehabilitation. He later held a director-level rehabilitation leadership role within a multidisciplinary equine medical and performance facility, where he oversaw structured recovery programs and operated one of only two equine hyperbaric oxygen therapy units in Florida at the time.

The course fee is $10. Advance registration online is required at Breaking Into the Thoroughbred Industry: Proven Strategies for Breeding, Development, and Maximizing Value
