A Florida-bred colt by Florida-based sire Awesome Slew, who stands at Ocala Stud, worked an eight-mile in :10 flat Tuesday to record the fastest furlong of the day during the first day of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic under tack program.

Cataloged as Hip 91 and consigned by Tom McCrocklin as agent, the bay colt is out of Cash Reserve, by Distorted Humor and is a half-brother to stakes-placed runners Reckling and Campy Cash. Cash Reserve is a half-sister to Grade 3-placed, stakes-winner Sam Lord’s Castle; stakes-winning, stakes-producer Golden Locket and stakes-placed Rosiano.

The colt is eligible for the lucrative Florida Sire Stakes program and was bred in Florida by John B. Penn.

Another Florida-bred of note during the breeze show Tuesday was Hip 186, a filly by Uncle Mo out of Gabriellestoblame, by Blame who worked a furlong in :10.20 from the Pick View LLC as agent consignment. The bay filly was one of six to achieve that time for an eighth-mile breeze.

Gabriellestoblame is a half-sister to Grade 1 Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands-winner Nyquist and is from the family of Sahara Sky, the Florida-bred millionaire and winner of the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, Grade 2 Palos Verdes and Grade 2 San Carlos in 2013 and the San Carlos again in 2014.

The filly was bred in Florida by Bridlewood Farm.
