Florida-bred Uncle Mo Filly Sells for $625,000

Florida-breds proved popular during the first day of the two-day Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale in Timonium, Md., Monday as a colt by Florida-sire Awesome Slew sold for $700,000 and a filly by Uncle Mo went for $625,000. They were the second and third highest-priced juveniles of the day behind a Mendelssohn filly that sold for $800,000 to Speedway Stables out of the Paul Sharp as agent consignment.

Selling as Hip 91 from the consignment of Tom McCrocklin as agent consignment, the Awesome Slew colt went to Maverick Racing/Siena Farm/CMNWLTH and is out of the Distorted Humor mare Cash Reserve, making him a half-brother to stakes-placed runners Reckling and Campy Cash.

Bred in Florida by John B. Penn, he worked a bullet :10 flat at the under tack show last Tuesday and is eligible for the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes. Penn purchased Cash Reserve for $27,000 out of the 2015 Keeneland January Sale.

Awesome Slew stands for $4,000 at Ocala Stud.

The filly by Uncle Mo sold as Hip 186 and is out of Gabriellestoblame, by Blame and was purchased by Solis/Litt.

Gabriellestoblame is a half-sister to Grade 1 Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands-winner Nyquist and is from the family of Sahara Sky, the Florida-bred millionaire and winner of the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, Grade 2 Palos Verdes and Grade 2 San Carlos in 2013 and the San Carlos again in 2014.

She worked a furlong in :10.20 from the Pick View LLC as agent consignment last Tuesday. The bay filly was one of six to achieve the second fastest time for an eighth-mile breeze that day.

The Uncle Mo filly was bred in Florida by Bridlewood Farm. Bridlewood purchased Gabriellestoblame for $330,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Among other Florida-breds sold at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale Tuesday were Hip 146, a filly by Not This Time out of E Built This City, by City Zip that was purchased by Jeff Parthemore for $65,000 out of the Tom McCrockin as agent consignment. The filly bred by Champion Equine LLC worked an eighth-mile in :10.80 at the breeze show.

Hip 6, a Florida-bred colt by Girvin out of stakes-placed mare Absolute Heaven, by Not For Love went to Julia Carey for $40,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin as agent consignment. The colt bred by Tim Ahearn worked an eight-mile in :10.60.

Hip 140, a Florida-bred colt by Take Charge Indy out of Distorted Type, by Distorted Humor went for $30,000 to Trin-Brook Stable out of the Julie Davies LLC as agent consignment. The colt bred by Tami Bobo clocked a furlong in :10.60 at the under tack show.

The second and final session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds gets underway at 11 a.m. today, offering 13 Florida-bred hopefuls amongst Hips 301 – 603.

Hip 350, an FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes eligible filly by Girvin, consigned by Boddy Dodd as agent, rattled an eighth in :10.20–a co-second fastest time–earlier this week.

Two more Florida-breds offered today – a filly by Catalina Cruiser (Hip 345) and a colt by Mohaymen (Hip 536) – share :10.40 breeze-times. One FTBOA FSS-eligible colt, by Pleasant Acres stallion Bucchero (Hip 572), breezed in :10.3.
