Florida-bred Athena’s Wisdom will look to extend her winning streak to three Wednesday at Tampa Bay as the 3-1 morning line favorite in a second, condition $32,000 optional claiming at seven furlongs. The Gerald Bennett trainee is one of five Florida-breds among the six entrants in the seven-furlong test with a purse of $54,000.

Owned by J.P.G. 2 LLC, Majestic Racing Inc., and Winning Stables Inc., Athena’s Wisdom won a non-winners of three, $25,000 claiming by a length-and-three-quarters after six furlongs on Jan. 19 then won a first level, $16,000 optional claiming by a length-and-a-half at seven furlongs on Feb. 24, both at Tampa Bay Downs.

Athena’s Wisdom has won four of 11 career starts with three thirds for earnings of $130,000 and will break from post four with Samy Camacho aboard.

She is by Ride on Curlin out of Gold Charisma, by Leoroidesanimaux (Brz) and was bred by Robyn Thompson.

Robert G. Smith, Richard Kingston George and Wayne and Chico Owens’ Awesome Pic is the second choice in the program at 7-2 and steps down in class after finishing fifth behind winner Easy Come Easy Go in a second level,, $32,000 optional claiming going seven furlongs on Feb. 3 at Tampa Bay.

Trained by Robert G. Smith, Awesome Pic will be trying to win for the first time since winning a first condition, $17,000 optional claiming going a mile at Delaware Park in July.

Awesome Pic was bred in Florida by Richard George and is by Ocala Stud stallion Awesome Slew out of Shirley’s Pic, by Overdriven.

Daniel Centano has the mount and they will break from post two.

The other Florida-breds entered are Both Sides, who was third in the previously mentioned Feb. 3 optional claiming won by Easy Come Easy Go; Sea Art, a winner of a first level, $16,000 optional claiming last out at Tampa on March 16; and Sequin Lady, who took a $10,000 claiming race on March 15 at Tampa most recently.

Both Sides is 4-1 on the morning line and will depart from post three with Antonio Gallardo. Sea Art is 9-2 in the program and Paco Morales has the mount while Sequin Lady, also at 9-2 on the morning line, has jockey Juan Batista.

Competing the field is Music Amore with Gabriel Amore in the saddle.
