Disqualified out of a successful stakes debut last out in the $100,000 Pulpit at Gulfstream Park in November, Three Diamonds Farms’ Bronze Bullet returns Thursday in a first level, $75,000 optional claiming at the same track. The 3-year-old Florida-bred colt trained by Jose D’Angelo is among nine 3-year-olds who will go seven-and-a-half furlongs on the turf. The $86,000 purse includes $10,000 from the Florida-bred Incentive Fund.
Sent to the post as the 2-1 favorite in the mile-and-70-yard Pulpit run on the all-weather course, Bronze Bullet came from fourth, making a four-wide sweep out of the turn, to finish in a dead heat for first with Glorious Boy. However, Bronze Bullet was disqualified for interference in the stretch and placed second.
In two previous starts, both on the Gulfstream synthetic, the chestnut son of Leinster had won a five-furlong maiden special weight by a neck in October and was second to fellow Florida-bred Monster in an upper tier, $75,000 optional claiming going five-and-a-half furlongs on Nov. 8. He has earned $80,240 for his one win and two seconds.
Bred in Florida by Charles Weston and Robert Vickers, Bronze Bullet is out of Renovation, by Alternation and is a three-time graduate of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company. Three Diamond Farm bought him for $180,000 out of last year’s Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training where he was consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales. Grassroots purchase him for $37,000 out of the Musketeers Equine consignment at the 2024 October Yearling Sale. He first sold at OBS for $7,000 to C-G Stables at the 2024 Winter Mixed Sale where he was consigned by Lisa McGreevy’s Abbie Road Farm.
Bronze Bullet has post eight and is 9-2 on the morning line. D’Angelo has given the riding assignment to Tyler Gaffalione.
Breaking to the immediate left from post seven is Immortalized (Fr), the 3-1 morning line favorite.
Trained by Brendan Walsh for Sean Feld and Starry Night Racing, Immortalized makes his third career start after winning a $50,000 optional claiming maiden race going a mile on the turf at Gulfstream on Jan. 6. In his first start, the son of Romanised (Ire) was sixth in the five-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight on the grass at Ellis Park in August.
John Velazquez has the mount on Immortalized.
Rounding out the entries are Alakan and jockey Jorge Ruiz, Sir Newstons Laws will have Renzo Rojas up, Edgard Zayas rides Doctrine, Zucchero will have Javier Castellano in the saddle, Jose Morelos will guide Fulmine and Miguel Vasquez has the call on Cabourg.
