A Florida-bred colt from the family of 2009 Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands (Grade 1)-winner Mine That Bird sold for $250,000 in early action at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May Sale of 2-year-olds in training Tuesday. Selling as Hip 61 and purchased by Case Clay Thoroughbred Management, the bay colt is out of the Liam’s Map mare Claire Let It Be and his second dam is Let’sleaveitatthat, a Bodemeister mare that is a half-sister to Mine That Bird, stakes-winners Dullahan and Mine That Star and a full-sister to stakes-placed Meistermind. The colt was consigned by Tom McCrocklin as agent and worked an eighth-mile in :10.40 at the under tack show. He was bred in Florida by JDT Racing.

 

Colts Neck Stable went to $200,000 to purchase Hip 154, a Florida-bred filly by City of Light consigned by de Meric Sales as agent. The bay filly is out of the unraced Tapit mare Greek Sister, a full-sister to Grade 3-winner New York Central, Grade 3-winner Corfu; stakes-placed, stakes-producer Runway Ready; and stakes-producer Chilly Fashion. She worked a an eighth in :10.60 and was bred in Florida by Westbury Stables LLC.

 

Hip 177, a Florida-bred colt by Mitole, dropped the gavel at $100,000 on a final bid by trainer Patrick Biancone. A half-brother to stakes-placed Florida-bred Global Legend, the bay son of the Henny Hughes mare I’m a Dixie Diva was consigned by Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables as agent and was bred in Florida by Dominique Damico. I’m a Dixie Diva is a half-sister to Grade 1-winner Mor Spirit and the colt worked an eighth in :10.40 at the under tack show.
