After scratching All Class out of several stakes in early April, trainer Linda Rice found disappointment when the Florida-bred filly finished eighth in a first level, $45,000 optional claiming at Aqueduct on April 19. But All Class requited the poor results in her previous start with a nearly two-length score in a first level, $50,000 optional claiming during the Belmont at Big A meet Friday.
With Eric Cancel aboard, All Class was last of five, about five lengths behind early leader Majestic Run after the first quarter mile of the six-furlong contest for fillies and mares, 3-years-old and older. All Class began to advance while racing three-wide in the turn then shifted to the outside in upper stretch to hit the front past the furlong marker and win in 1:11.07 over the sloppy and sealed track.
Stablemate Sarir was second, two lengths faster than Thirteen Red Flags in third followed by Majestic Run and Shesinamood.
All Class was the 8-5 favorite as part of an entry with Sarir and paid $3.70 to win.
Claimed by Rice for $62,500 out of a six-and-a-half-furlong victory at Keeneland in October, All Class produced two seconds and third in her next three starts for Rice before off-the-board finish last out.
All Class earned the $48,400 winner’s share of the $85,360 purse to increase her lifetime bankroll to $179,911 from four wins, three seconds and a third from 10 starts.
She is by Kantharos out of Commentary, by The Factor and was bred in Florida by George and Karen Russell’s Rustlewood Farm Inc. in Reddick, Fla.
All Class sold for $7,000 out of the Summerfield consignment of Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck at the 2021 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company October Yearling Sale where Span Investments bought her.
