Memorial service planned for horseman Newkoop

A memorial service for local horseman Jim Newkoop will be held in the lounge area of the OBS sales pavilion Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Newkoop, a Morriston resident who owned and raced thoroughbreds and built many of the barns at Marion County’s farms and training centers, died last Thursday. He was 67. Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Newkoop.
