Eclipse Champion Sprinter Benny the Bull will stand at Vinery in Summerfield for the 2012 breeding season, according to an announcement made by owner Greg James. He has been standing at Vinery’s Florida division since his retirement in 2010. His stud fee will be $2,000 live foal.
Benny the Bull earned the Eclipse Award as Champion Sprinter for 2008 when he went undefeated while winning the prestigious Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1), the True North Handicap (G2), the Smile Sprint Handicap (G2), and the Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes. In 2007, Benny the Bull won the Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash Stakes (G1) and finished second in the Forego Stakes (G1). Overall, he won or placed in 14 of 20 starts and earned $2,353,430.
At the recently concluded Keeneland January sale, Benny the Bull had the fourth highest yearling average among freshman sires and led yearling sires by average on day three of the sale.
“I’ll continue to be a very strong supporter of Benny as I have been his first two seasons at stud’” said James. “His Keeneland January yearlings are evidence that he is siring correct, athletic-looking individuals.”
