Florida-bred Trip for A. J. - Lisa Photo Florida-bred Trip for A. J. stayed red hot at Calder Casino and Race Course on Saturday, delivering as the short-priced favorite with a 3 ¾-length win in the $55,000 Ms Brookski Stakes. It was the fourth straight win for the daughter of Trippi and her third career stakes victory.

Trip for A. J., a homebred for Peter Fuller, has run well on turf and dirt, getting five wins from eight career starts for $162,900. She finished third behind Florida-bred Musical Romance in the $55,000 Sweettrickydancer Stakes on the Calder lawn in June, and later that month she won the $55,000 Noble Robyn Stakes on the turf course. In that race, she finished a nose behind Florida-bred Regina Twain but was elevated to first place when that rival was disqualified for interference.

Trip for A. J. then was dominant in two starts on the main track, winning the $65,000 Nancy’s Glitter Handicap by 3 ¼ lengths and a $41,300 allowance by 7 ¾ lengths for trainer Milton Wolfson.

The 3-year-old filly returned to turf Saturday for the 7 ½-furlong Ms Brookski and improved to 4-for-4 with Javier Santiago in the irons. Trip for A. J. ran in third place early as Florida-bred Aroma de Mujer led the field through a quarter-mile in 23.22 seconds and a half-mile in 46.08. As Aroma de Mujer tired, Trip for A. J. took command at the quarter pole, drawing off under urging and finishing in 1:28.77 on a firm turf course.

Trip for A. J. returned $3.80, $3 and $2.60 as the favorite in a field of 10 fillies and mares.

Musical Romance finished second, 2 ¼ lengths ahead of Dancing Rage, and paid $5 and $3.60. The show price on Florida-bred Dancing Rage was $3.40.

Musical Romance, a daughter of Ocala Stud Farm stallion Concorde’s Tune, has won three of her 15 starts for $124,671. She was bred by Ocala Stud and was a $22,000 purchase as a 2-year-old at OBS in April 2009. Musical Romance is owned by Pinnacle Racing Stable and trainer Bill Kaplan.

Dancing Rage, a daughter of Sligo Bay bred at Adena Springs South in Williston, has won three of her 20 career starts and earned $95,592. She’s trained by Manuel Azpurua for A and V Investments Inc.
