Four more Florida-breds passed through the ring at the Keeneland September Sale Wednesday with three of the four bringing six figures.
Hip Number 556 was the top selling Florda-foaled yearling on day two of Book 2 of the sale that will run through September 21. Consigned by Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck’s Summerfield, Agent II, the bay colt brought $210,000 from Teresa Viola Racing Stable/J.J. Crupi, Agent. Both Summerfield and Crupi’s New Castle Farm are located in Ocala, Fla. The colt is by Street Sense and out of the Deputy Minister mare Barnie Fife, making him a half-brother to stakes winner American Classic.
Bringing the second highest price of the day for a Florida yearling was Hip Number 620 which brought a final bid of $160,000 from Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet Stables located near Lexington, Kentucky. By Indian Charlie and out of the Real Quiet mare Chasenthebluesaway, the dark bay or brown filly was consigned by Baccari Blookstock, also of Lexington, Ky.
Selling for $150,000 was Hip Number 458, a Florida-bred colt by Congrats and out of the unraced Pure Prize mare Weight No More. Consigned by Peter O’Callaghan’s Woods Edge Farm in Lexington, Ky., the colt was purchased by Starlight Racing, F. Brothers, Agent.
Also representing Florida at the Keeneland Yearling Sale was Hip Number 496, a Hard Spun colt that sold for $47,000 to McCalmont Bloodstock. Also consigned by Summerfield, the bay colt is out of the Dynaformer unraced mare Abiding.
