The Florida Horse magazine received one of the highest accolades in equine publishing Saturday during the American Horse Publications annual awards dinner in Williamsburg, Virginia. For the sixth consecutive year, The Florida Horse was honored with AHP’s coveted general excellence award.
Sixty-two AHP members were named finalists in the 2012 contest for material published in 2011. Participation in this year’s contest represented 90 AHP members and 686 entries. Held since 1974, the AHP Annual Awards Contest provides members with an opportunity to be recognized for excellence in equine media as well as professional critiques for improvement.
The Florida Horse collected seven awards in all, including:
First Prize: General Excellence State or Regional Publication (any format)
First Prize: Publication Cover Page (print) – Flat-Out Impressive
First Prize: Equine Related Show/Event Program or Directory – Farm and Service Directory
Second Prize: One-Page or Two-Page Spread Editorial Design (print) – Big Horse (Mucho Macho Man)
Second Prize: Editorial Design (print) all categories – Gone In A Flash (Flash Point)
Second Prize: Illustration (print) Circulation 20,000 or under – Anhidrosis
Third Prize: Editorial Design (print) Circulation 20,000 or under – Still Perfect (Perfect Feather)
