SANAN BRIGGS
Nadia Sanan Briggs
serves as general manager of business operations for her family’s owned
and operated Padua Stables. A 1999 graduate of Cornell University, became involved
in the Thoroughbred business when her parents bought their first yearlings at
Keeneland in 1997. The following Spring, the Sanans bought what had previously
been Silverleaf Farms, in Summerfield, Florida, and renamed it Padua after family-owned
property in England. As General Manager, Sanan Briggs oversees all business
aspects of the farm, and travels extensively to Thoroughbred auctions, assisting
in the selection and purchase of all Padua bloodstock. She works closely with
all her managers to oversee the day to day operations of Padua’s extensive
racing and breeding operation.
The 800-acre
Padua Stables is an all-encompassing operation, incorporating a quality band
of 120 broodmares, 83 foals of 2005, 69 yearlings, a stallion station and a
training facility that will accomodate some 65 horses this year. In addition,
Padua maintains a racing stable of some 60-80 horses at the racetrack. Outstanding
racehorses to carry the Padua silks include undefeated champion Vindication,
Grade I winners Cajun Beat, Cash Run, Snow Ridge and Yes It’s True, as
well as Graded winners Dance Master, Quintons Gold Rush, Bohemian Lady, Freedom's
Daughter, and Exchange Rate.
The farm
is currently home to four stallions, each a Grade I or Grade II winner:, Dance
Master, a leading Florida freshman sire of 2004, and young stallions Snow Ridge,
Delaware Township, and Exchange Rate. In addition, Padua retains a significant
interest in champion Vindication, who stands at Hill 'n' Dale Farm near Lexington,
Kentucky., and Yes It's True, the second leading Freshman Sire of 2004 who now
stands at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky. Two new stallions, multiple Grade
1 winner Pico Central and Grade 1 winner Proud Accolade will be standing at
Padua in 2006.
Sanan Briggs
serves on the boards of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association,
Gluck Foundation, Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, the Florida Division of
the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, and Central Flroida Community College’s
Equine Studies Program. She is currently serving as President of the Florida
Thoroughbred Charities and was recently appointed to the board of the Florida
Horse Park.
