DEAN DERENZO
Dean De Renzo is
a managing member with partner Randy Hartley of Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds.
The bloodstock partnership was formed in 1992 and the duo purchased a farm for
their base of operations in 1994. The company began as a pinhooking operation
and has evolved into a full service, breeding, training and sales facility.
Hartley/De
Renzo Thoroughbreds is one of the largest breeding and stallion operations in
the state of Florida, standing ten stallions in the 2005 breeding season. The
65-acre farm is located just west of Ocala and stands City Place, Diligence,
Essence of Dubai, Full Mandate, Is It True, Omega Code, Quaker Ridge, Roar Of
The Tiger, and Tiger Ridge. Successful Appeal stood at Hartley/De Renzo through
the 2004 breeding season, and Songandaprayer in the 2005 season. They were the
leading freshmen sires in the country during 2004 and 2005 respectively.
Hartley/De
Renzo has been one of the most successful pinhooking operations in the past
decade. According to TBH Market Watch statistics, in the period from 1995-1999,
the duo sold yearlings for a total price of $6.8 million and which have gone
on to earn $12.6 million. Outstanding racehorses sold by Hartley/De Renzo include
Eclipse champion Florida-bred Silver Charm, Eclipse champion Xtra Heat, Florida-bred
champion Stormy Blues and Greenwood Lake.
Hartley/De
Renzo participates as a consignor in the two-year-olds in training sales
and established a record in 2001 of the highest-priced juvenile ever sold at
an OBS sale, with a colt by Dehere out of Sweet Gold, selling for $1,050,000.

Renzo registered 8 Florida-bred foals in 2004. All
Hartley/De
Renzo Thoroughbred stallions are nominated to the Florida Thoroughbred Charities
Stakes.
De Renzo
is one of the founders of the National Association of Two-Year-Old Consignors
and currently serves as chairman of the board of that organization. De Renzo
is currently Second Vice President of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’
and Owners’ Association.
